LPKR Commits to Wastewater Treatment to Support a High-Quality Living Environment

20/01/25

Jakarta, 20 January 2025 - To help create a high-quality living environment, PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk. (LPKR), Indonesia’s leading real estate and healthcare platform, remains committed to responsible wastewater management in full compliance with all applicable discharge regulations.

LPKR ensures that its wastewater treatment processes do not cause negative impacts on the environment or surrounding communities.

All wastewater generated from the company’s various properties is processed through certified treatment facilities, most of which are located on-site. Regular quality monitoring is conducted to ensure that parameters such as pH levels and flow rates comply with regulatory standards. These measurements are carried out routinely by accredited laboratories.

In addition, LPKR’s integrated townships are equipped with centralized wastewater treatment plants that serve multiple assets and areas connected to the public sewage network. For discharge management, the sludge from clean water treatment is routed to drying beds for sedimentation and drying. Once dry, the sludge is collected and stored in open designated areas within the water treatment facility.

John Riady, Group CEO of Lippo, stated that two years ago, LPKR’s business units collectively produced approximately 3.82 million m³ of wastewater, of which around 38% was successfully recycled or reused.

John also noted that the company’s Water Treatment Division (WTD) not only processes wastewater from its own business units, but also manages wastewater generated by residential, commercial, and industrial tenants.

Approximately 49% of all treated wastewater is repurposed after treatment. A portion of this treated water is recycled and sold as non-potable water, while the rest is directly reused by the Town Management Division (TMD) for purposes such as irrigation and landscaping.
