DEVELOPING THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY, SILO ENHANCES SPECIALIZED KIDNEY TRANSPLANT SERVICES
Jakarta, February 1, 2023 – PT Siloam International Hospitals Tbk. (SILO), a subsidiary of PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk. (LPKR) in the healthcare services sector, is committed to advancing the healthcare industry by offering specialized medical services, including kidney transplantation. SILO is expanding its specialized healthcare services through its Centers of Excellence (CoE) program, which is available across the company’s hospital network. Key medical specialties in SILO's portfolio include oncology and breast cancer, neurology, cardiology and heart centers, fertility, Parkinson’s and movement disorders, and kidney transplantation.
One example is Siloam Hospitals ASRI in South Jakarta, which launched its Kidney Transplant Center of Excellence in January 2023 to meet the growing demand for kidney disease treatment in Indonesia. Supported by a multidisciplinary team of highly experienced and reliable medical specialists, cutting-edge kidney transplant technology, and clinical and operational systems integrated within the Siloam hospital network, Indonesian patients no longer need to go abroad to receive optimal, high-quality kidney transplant services.
Since 2017, Siloam Hospitals ASRI has successfully performed over 200 kidney transplant surgeries, with 41% of patients coming from Java and 59% from outside Java. Since 2018, Siloam Hospitals ASRI has also utilized the retroperitoneal technique, a safer and more effective approach for donors, in which the transplant is conducted directly at the donor kidney site. With the support of an experienced multidisciplinary team, innovative techniques, and the latest technology, Siloam Hospitals ASRI has achieved success rates comparable to international standards. For instance, Siloam ASRI has recorded a 1-year patient survival rate of 95.6% and a 1-year graft survival rate of 98.0%, compared to the global averages reported by the European Renal Association Registry in 2013 of 95.8% and 98.6%, respectively.
LPKR Group CEO and SILO President Commissioner, John Riady, emphasized that SILO understands that certain health conditions require highly specialized care.
“SILO provides Centers of Excellence equipped with specialist doctors and dedicated facilities to address the unique needs of patients and deliver comprehensive medical services. Our CoEs offer targeted care and infrastructure to support patients with specific medical conditions,” he explained.
John also stated that LPKR, through SILO, remains committed to growing the healthcare industry in Indonesia.
“Healthcare is one of the most crucial industries that must be developed in Indonesia. With the economy expected to continue growing, the demand for healthcare facilities will increase. LPKR, through SILO, will continue to expand our clinical capabilities. We are on a mission to meet Indonesia’s healthcare needs and are fully committed to continued growth,” said John.
As of 2022, SILO operates 41 hospitals, 15 of which are located in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek), and 26 others across Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and Ambon. SILO also operates 66 Siloam Clinics. LPKR is the majority shareholder of SILO with a 58.05% ownership stake.
