Younger Generation Shows Growing Interest in Homeownership, LPKR Launches New Residential Products
Jakarta, 21 January 2025 - According to the 123 Property Recap 2024: The Youth Moves report by Rumah123, there is a significant shift in property preferences among Indonesia’s younger generation. Once predominantly renters, young people are now increasingly valuing homeownership.
The report found that 75% of property seekers on Rumah123 are from the younger generation, segmented into three key age groups: 18–24, 25–34, and 35–44 years. Older buyers aged 45–54 were categorized separately.
Marisa Jaya, Head of Research at Rumah123, noted that both younger and older generations prefer to buy landed houses, whether brand new or pre-owned—rather than rent. Overall, landed homes priced between Rp1–3 billion emerged as the most popular choice across all age groups, followed by homes in the Rp400 million to Rp1 billion range.
As Indonesia’s younger generation enters the prime of its home-buying phase, particularly first-time buyers, this demographic holds vast market potential.
In response to this growing trend, PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk. (LPKR), Indonesia’s leading real estate and healthcare platform, continues to accelerate sales of its flagship projects across Lippo Village and Park Serpong.
John Riady, Group CEO of LPKR, shared that as of Q3 2024, the company recorded pre-sales of Rp4.25 trillion, representing 79% of its annual target. This achievement was largely driven by strong demand for affordable landed housing launched in prior phases, such as Cendana Homes, XYZ Livin, and Waterfront Uptown, as well as new product launches like the Zen series in Park Serpong and XQ Livin in Lippo Cikarang Cosmopolis.
The Rp4.25 trillion in pre-sales also marked a 26% increase year-on-year, signaling continued market appetite. Of that total, Rp3.19 trillion was contributed by sales from flagship projects in the Lippo Village–Park Serpong corridor during the January–September 2024 period.
