LIPPO MALL PURI AND SUN PLAZA RECEIVE EDGE GREEN BUILDING CERTIFICATION

Jakarta, February 16, 2023 – PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk (LPKR), a leading real estate and healthcare company in Indonesia by revenue, is proud to announce that Lippo Mall Puri and Sun Plaza, two shopping centers owned by Lippo Malls Indonesia Retail Trust (LMIR Trust), have successfully received EDGE Green Building Certification.

This marks the first time LPKR’s retail portfolio, in which it holds a 47.0% stake through LMIR Trust, has achieved this prestigious green building certification. Lippo Mall Puri is located in St. Moritz, Jakarta, the largest integrated development in West Jakarta, while Sun Plaza is situated in Medan, North Sumatra.

EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) is a globally recognized green building standard and certification system developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. The certification is awarded to buildings that demonstrate at least 20% savings in energy, water, and embodied energy in materials compared to conventional buildings. In Indonesia, EDGE certification is issued by the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI).

The implementation of energy-saving systems and practices led to energy savings of 21% at Lippo Mall Puri and 24% at Sun Plaza. Meanwhile, the use of water-saving faucets and rainwater harvesting systems resulted in water savings of 31% at Lippo Mall Puri and 35% at Sun Plaza. These initiatives translated into utility cost savings of IDR 9.09 billion and IDR 8.50 billion per year, respectively, for the two malls.
