LPCK COMMITS TO WASTE AND WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT
Jakarta, December 7, 2022 – PT Lippo Cikarang Tbk. (LPCK), a subsidiary of PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk. (LPKR), is committed to waste and wastewater management as part of its efforts to develop an environmentally friendly and sustainable integrated township, while also promoting a clean and healthy living environment.
To achieve this goal, LPCK has implemented environmental management certifications, including certifications for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations (POPAL) and Water Pollution Control Officers (PPPA). These certifications support the management of domestic (non-B3) and hazardous (B3) waste, which includes items such as used rags, used lubricant oil, hazardous waste packaging, used batteries, electronic waste, and WWTP sludge. LPCK has also obtained the necessary permits for temporary hazardous waste storage (TPS B3 No. 660.3/Per.TPLB3.057/II/P3LH/DLH/2020 for 2020–2025) and Wastewater Discharge Permit (IPLC No. 503.9/029/DPMPTSP/IPAL/2020 for 2020–2025).
LPCK manages waste through several approaches aimed at creating a clean and healthy environment while turning waste into useful resources. Solid and liquid B3 waste is collected and stored in a licensed Temporary Hazardous Waste Storage Facility and managed in cooperation with licensed third-party waste processors. Meanwhile, non-B3 solid waste, totaling 48 m³, is also collected and handled by licensed third parties. Non-B3 liquid waste is processed at LPCK’s Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to meet quality standards before being discharged into water bodies.
Additionally, LPCK educates and continuously encourages all tenants to practice proper waste management and cleanliness. Tenants are urged to sort waste based on type, making disposal and recycling more efficient. LPCK also monitors tenant waste management documentation every six months, encouraging greater use of recyclable materials and reducing the use of single-use plastics. Furthermore, LPCK has launched a Compost Production Program using organic waste from the WWTP, helping reduce waste volume while creating environmentally beneficial products.
LPKR Group CEO John Riady emphasized that LPCK is fully committed to sustainable business practices, demonstrated through its implemented policies and programs. In the environmental domain, LPCK has developed green buildings, implemented water and electricity conservation, and promoted a paperless policy. He added that sustainable business operations not only ensure LPCK’s long-term growth but also earn the support of all stakeholders, creating shared prosperity in the long run.
