LPKR COMMITS TO GREENING INTEGRATED TOWNSHIP AREAS

Jakarta, April 4, 2023 – PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk. (LPKR), Indonesia’s leading real estate and healthcare platform by revenue, is committed to investing in green spaces across several of its integrated township developments. Some of LPKR’s rapidly growing townships include Lippo Village, Lippo Cikarang, and Tanjung Bunga. These integrated urban areas are designed with residential, commercial, office, and lifestyle facilities, creating self-sustaining economic ecosystems.

As part of its commitment to green space investment, LPKR Group CEO John Riady stated that the company has planted more than 165,000 trees in Lippo Village, Lippo Cikarang, and Tanjung Bunga—most of which were planted by local residents and community groups. Beyond creating a lush and pleasant environment, these trees also serve as natural carbon filters to help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

LPKR has continued to invest in the rejuvenation and maintenance of public green spaces, particularly through tree planting and the cultivation of native plants. For instance, between 2019 and 2021, LPKR invested over IDR 1 billion to revitalize underutilized or neglected green areas in Lippo Village, resulting in an additional 32,000 square meters of open green space accessible to residents and the public.

“The rapid growth of our business in healthcare, malls, and hospitality has not diminished our commitment to creating green, sustainable, and thriving urban ecosystems for all communities to enjoy,” John emphasized.

In addition, strategic tree planting and the placement of green open spaces have helped reduce urban heat. For example, the average daily temperature in Lippo Village is 28°C, which is 3°C lower than Jakarta’s average daily temperature of 31°C.

John further explained that since its inception, LPKR has upheld a vision of creating life-enhancing impact through the development of planned and sustainable townships, supported by high-quality physical and social infrastructure.
