LPKR COMMITS TO GREENING INTEGRATED TOWNSHIPS

09/02/23

Jakarta, February 9, 2023 – PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk. (LPKR), Indonesia’s largest property and healthcare company by total assets and revenue, has reaffirmed its commitment to rejuvenating and maintaining green spaces, particularly across its major integrated township developments such as Lippo Village, Lippo Cikarang, and Tanjung Bunga.

This commitment is being realized through significant investment in the revitalization and maintenance of public green areas, particularly through tree planting and the cultivation of native plant species. From 2019 to 2021, LPKR invested over IDR 1 billion to revitalize underutilized or neglected green spaces in Lippo Village, resulting in an additional 32,000 square meters of open green space accessible to residents and the public.

LPKR has also planted more than 165,000 trees across its three largest township developments—Lippo Village, Lippo Cikarang, and Tanjung Bunga—many of which were planted by local residents and community groups. Beyond beautifying the environment, these trees serve as natural carbon filters, helping to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Strategic placement of green open spaces and urban tree planting also plays a vital role in reducing urban heat. For example, the average daily temperature in Lippo Village is 28°C, which is 3°C cooler than Jakarta’s average of 31°C.

LPKR Group CEO John Riady noted that since its inception, LPKR has carried a vision to make a meaningful impact on life by developing well-planned, sustainable townships set in green environments with world-class physical and social infrastructure. The management is also committed to further integrating sustainability into the company’s core business strategies and operations, building on the momentum of its ongoing sustainability efforts.
