LPKR COMMITS TO PRESERVING ECOSYSTEMS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Jakarta, October 26, 2022 – PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk. (LPKR) remains firmly committed to creating beautiful, sustainable, and thriving urban ecosystems for everyone to enjoy—particularly in its integrated township developments such as Lippo Village, Lippo Cikarang, and Tanjung Bunga Makassar.

In site planning, LPKR strives to minimize disruption to existing ecosystems and natural landscapes, while ensuring ample provision of green open spaces in its master planning, in compliance with regional zoning regulations. For instance, Lippo Cikarang features 1.8 million square meters of designated green open space.

LPKR has also invested significantly in reforestation and landscaping in public areas, especially through tree planting and cultivation of native plant species. From 2019 to 2021, LPKR allocated over IDR 1 billion to rejuvenate passive or neglected green spaces in Lippo Village, resulting in an additional 32,000 square meters of open green space accessible to residents and the public.

To date, LPKR has planted over 165,000 trees across its three largest township projects—Lippo Village, Lippo Cikarang, and Tanjung Bunga—with strong participation from local residents and community groups. Beyond beautifying the environment, these trees also serve as carbon sinks, helping to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Strategically placing green open spaces also helps mitigate the urban heat island effect—for example, the average daily temperature in Lippo Village is 28°C, which is 3°C cooler than Jakarta's average of 31°C.

John Riady, CEO of LPKR, emphasized that the company is consistently driven by a shared purpose to improve the well-being of all stakeholders, one of which is through ecological impact management and biodiversity conservation within the company's operational areas. These efforts not only benefit customers but also have a positive impact on surrounding communities.

"We are committed to creating beautiful, sustainable, and thriving urban ecosystems that everyone can enjoy," John affirmed.
