LPKR Commits to Urban Greening in Integrated Townships
Jakarta, 26 June 2023 - PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk. (LPKR), Indonesia’s leading real estate and healthcare platform by total revenue, is committed to rejuvenating green open spaces (RTH) across its major integrated township developments, including Lippo Village, Lippo Cikarang, and Tanjung Bunga in Makassar.
As part of this initiative, vacant plots are being transformed into public parks, supported by regular landscaping and maintenance efforts. Beyond enhancing the aesthetics of the township, this initiative contributes to a cooler microclimate and improved air quality.
John Riady, Group CEO of LPKR, stated that over the years, LPKR has planted more than 160,000 trees across Lippo Village, Lippo Cikarang, and Tanjung Bunga, many of which were planted by local residents and community groups. "Tree planting goes beyond beautifying urban environments, it is a tangible way to combat climate change, as trees function as carbon sinks that help offset emissions," he explained.
In 2022, LPKR opened over 12,400 square meters of new green open space and developed 39 new parks. The plant nursery in Lippo Village alone houses approximately 20,000 plants representing 101 different species used in township landscaping. That same year, the company invested IDR 17 billion in landscape design and maintenance to preserve the greenery and natural charm of the area, a clear reflection of its commitment to biodiversity conservation and ecosystem preservation.
"We aim to create a harmonious balance between green open spaces and natural landscapes, allowing both residents and the general public to enjoy a beautiful and healthy living environment," John emphasized.
