OVER 140,000 INDIVIDUALS VACCINATED AT 27 LIPPO-OWNED MALLS
Jakarta, May 6, 2021 – PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk. (LPKR) continues to play an active role in supporting the Indonesian Government’s initiative to administer one million COVID-19 vaccinations per day as part of the national effort to curb the spread of the virus.
This support has been realized through the establishment of vaccination centers at malls operated by PT Lippo Malls Indonesia (LMI), a business unit under LPKR. Medical personnel for the vaccination program are provided by LPKR’s healthcare arm, PT Siloam Hospitals International Tbk. (Siloam Hospitals Group).
LMI has made 27 of its malls across Indonesia available as vaccination centers, supported by medical staff from the Siloam Hospitals Group. These vaccination sites are located in areas such as Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek), Serang, Manado, Jambi, Kupang, Yogyakarta, Palembang, and Denpasar. By the end of April 2021, more than 140,000 individuals—including the elderly, educators, the general public, retail workers, religious leaders, and civil servants—had received vaccinations at LMI malls.
John Riady, CEO of LPKR, stated, “LPKR is one of the private sector entities that has actively participated in establishing vaccination centers. We began this initiative as soon as the Government opened the opportunity for private sector involvement in supporting the national vaccination acceleration program.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, spokesperson for the COVID-19 vaccination program at the Ministry of Health, expressed appreciation for the private sector’s awareness and involvement in the vaccination rollout. “The contribution of private entities will undoubtedly help the Government accelerate the vaccination process,” she said.
She added, “Considering that malls offer easy access, ample parking, and comfortable waiting areas, I believe this approach is highly effective in supporting the Government’s vaccination efforts.”
Dr. Nadia further emphasized that LPKR’s ownership of healthcare facilities, such as the Siloam Hospitals Group, significantly enhances the implementation of vaccinations at these centers. “The Ministry of Health will continue to collaborate with LPKR to reach broader segments of the public. We also hope that these vaccination centers will expand beyond Jakarta, as our goal is to continue reaching the general population nationwide,” she concluded.
