PRESS STATEMENT

27/08/21

Regarding today's news related to BLBI, we would like to provide the following explanation and clarification:

  1. The land referred to by the government is, in fact, land that has been legally owned and controlled by the Government, c.q. the Ministry of Finance, since 2001. Therefore, the land is no longer owned by PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk.

  2. The government’s ownership of the land, c.q. the Ministry of Finance, since 2001 is related to the BLBI (Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance) involving banks that were taken over by the government, c.q. IBRA (Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency), in September 1997 during the monetary crisis.

  3. None of the Lippo companies, including Bank Lippo, have ever requested or received any funds from the BLBI program — not even a single cent.

  4. We have always fully supported the Government's initiative to consolidate certain assets owned by the Ministry of Finance and the newly established task force (Satgas).

  5. It is reasonable that among the assets being consolidated by the task force, there are some located around residential areas known as Lippo Karawaci.

  6. News reports suggesting any seizure of land or assets linked to Lippo, either as a past or current obligor, are completely inaccurate, as the assets in question have belonged to the state since 2001.

We kindly ask for the assistance of our media colleagues to help clarify and correct this matter.
Thank you.
