SILO Affirms Its Commitment to Implementing ESG and CSR Initiatives

Jakarta, 25 July 2023 - PT Siloam International Hospitals Tbk. (SILO), a subsidiary of PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk. (LPKR) in the healthcare sector, continues to strengthen its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through various impactful initiatives. These include the establishment of Siloam Clinics in Papua, support for the government’s medical tourism program, and the provision of free breast cancer screening for women across Indonesia.

In rural and remote areas, communities often face significant barriers to accessing quality healthcare services. One of the primary challenges is the shortage of doctors and healthcare professionals, which directly affects the overall well-being of local populations. The Siloam Clinics were founded with a clear mission to serve underserved communities in Indonesia’s most remote regions.

In Papua, for example—an area known for its rugged terrain and mountainous landscape—accessible healthcare is vital. Recognizing the urgent need, Siloam established its first clinic in Papua in 2019 and now operates seven clinics throughout the region’s highlands. "SILO is advancing partnerships with local community health centers (puskesmas) to develop Siloam Clinics in remote areas of Papua," stated John Riady, President Commissioner of SILO and Group CEO of LPKR.

John also noted SILO’s active contribution to the development of Indonesia’s medical tourism industry. SILO is collaborating with the government to designate seven of its hospitals as recommended facilities for medical tourism. These include Siloam Lippo Village, Siloam TB Simatupang, Siloam Kebon Jeruk, MRCCC, BIMC Nusa Dua, Siloam Denpasar, and Siloam Medan.

Furthering its ESG commitment, SILO has launched the #SELANGKAH campaign (SEmangat LAwan KANker), aimed at reducing disparities in access to cancer care, education, and qualified medical personnel. Through this initiative, women across Indonesia are eligible to receive free breast cancer screenings at participating Siloam hospitals. The program also invites the public to contribute by becoming sponsors or donors to support other communities in need.
