Lippo Attracts Ten Global Institutions To Develop Regional Healthcare, Research, and Education Centers in Meikarta. Initial Investment Valued At US$550 Million

  1. Lippo, a national business group, today signed MOUs with ten leading global education, healthcare and technology institutions. The investment value of these ten leading institutions from USA, UK, and Asia continent in Meikarta will amount to US$ 550 million.
     
  2. These collaborations and joint investments are expected to establish Meikarta-Lippo Cikarang as a significant regional education center as part of human transformation effort to help Indonesia to become a developed country. In the healthcare sector, Meikarta will establish leading Asean healthcare centers, including oncology, cardiology, neurology and rehabilitation centers each of which will be accommodated by a specialized hospital facility.
     
  3. Lippo continues to be committed to contribute to the progress of Indonesian society especially in the area of education. Education is a vital component in establishing the Indonesian people to be more competitive in the Global arena.
     
  4. Lippo is also very committed to contribute in the expansion of Indonesia's healthcare sector. The collaboration with several global healthcare institutions is expected to contribute positively to the general public healthcare.
     
  5. Meikarta is a manifestation of Lippo Group's continuing Commitment to develop its five pillars of development, namely Innovative Infrastructure & Transportation, High Tech CBD & Research Hub, Business & Commercial Hub, Green Sustainable Living, and Center for the Arts, Culture & Education.

    2. University College London (UCL)
    3. University of North Carolina
    4. Genesis Rehab Services (GRS)
    5. World Trade Center
    6. HTC Corporation
    7. China Telecom Global Limited
    8. JM Eagle
    9. Zhong Ying Finance
    10. Lausanne Hotel Management Institute
       
  7. Going forward, Meikarta will continue to collaborate with various parties, in an effort to make Meikarta a New City having complete facilities for the needs of its inhabitants, and to make Meikarta transform to a modern metropolitan city.
     
  8. For the implementation of collaborations with these institutions, a 273,000 sqm area in Meikarta will be developed to be the center of education, research, health, logistics centers and others.
     
  9. Meikarta will be developed with world-class infrastructure and facilities, including:

    1. Seven shopping malls, and commercial retail spaces with a total area of 1,500,000 sqm
    2. International Hospitals and Health Center
    3. International Financial Center
    4. Ten five-star International hotels
    5. a National Library
    6. an Opera Theater & Art Center
    7. One hundred International and National Plus ElementarySchools
    8. Fifty International and National Plus Junior High Schools / Senior High Schools
    9. Three National Universities
    10. Industrial Research Center
    11. International Exhibition Center

  10. Meikarta built in the Eastern Corridor Jakarta, has become the center of attention of the central government with the development of infrastructure projects such as :

    1. The Jakarta - Bekasi - Cikarang-Bandung fast train with an investment of Rp 65 trillion
    2. The development of Patimban Deep Seaport worth Rp40trillion
    3. The construction of the new airport 'Kertajati International Airport' worth Rp 23 trillion
    4. The development of the APM Monorail which connects seven industrial cities surrounding Meikarta
    5. The construction of the Jakarta - Cikampek Elevated Highway worth Rp 16 trillion
       
  11. The first phase of Meikarta development covering 22,000,000 sqm has been planned since 2014. The physical work started January 2016 with the construction of up to one hundred skyscraper buildings, each ranging from 35 to 46 floors. The total number of workers, which will reach 65,000 people, is a form of jobs creation in itself. The site conditions indicate the dynamism of a development similar to Shenzhen's early development.

Ketut Budi Wijaya, President of Meikarta, stated "This collaboration is another proof that the world's society has recognized and seen Meikarta as a future modern city. The presence of global institutions, whether in the field of education, health, and technology, will make Meikarta not just a residential area, but also a significant economic center."
